Description
The origin of this piece was for a painting class that I taught to my family. I had wanted a simple print that anyone could do. It contained simple strokes with just a few colors, a simple tree and birds. The inspiration was my vision for my own future family. The two birds resting on the tree branch is me and my now husband, Justin. The two birds in flight are the two children we envision having in our lives.
Upon completing this painting, my recently engaged cousin loved it so much and she shared with me a poem that her fiance had written for her. I decided that it fit so nicely with this piece that I added a quote from his poem and turned it into an engagement present for them.
Upon gifting this to my cousin, I told Justin who at the time was my fiance “Lets just stay engaged forever”. I just love the feeling behind the word engaged, it is an action word and it has such love and joy associated with it. Marriage seems to have all this other stuff, noise and a less beautiful set of judgments that come with it. Of course we did get married but we strive to stay fully engaged always.
