Description
Since the 11th century in China, the Camellia japonica has appeared in paintings and porcelain. The Japanese camellia is a flowering tree. It grows wild in mainland China (Shandong, east Zhejiang), Taiwan, southern Korea and southern Japan. In 1807, camellias were sold as greenhouse plants in the U.S.A., and were soon cultivated outdoors in the south. It is the official state flower of Alabama. In this digital painting, a ruby throated hummingbird is featured, which is the most widespread of all hummingbird species in Central and North America.
“Hummingbird and Japanese Camillea” is a Spadecaller digital / mixed media painting.
