Description
Photographic artwork by Cindy Treger. Photographed near Lake Meade, East Berlin, PA. This juvenile male ruby-throated hummingbird (archilochus colubris) didn't start his migration journey until Oct 8th, which is late for our area. He stuck around two weeks longer than any of the other hummers. He had just stated to get his ruby-red throat, so I'm assuming that he had to gain more weight and mature a little more before he left. His eyes are closed and it looks like he might be taking his final bow for the camera. Stay safe my sweet little birdie, I'll have your feeders full and waiting next spring!
I authored and included many of my hummingbird photos in a book titled "Ruby-throated Hummingbird Facts and Photos." It has many hummingbird facts that are sure to fascinate you. It is available through Amazon.
