Description
Royal Terns, Surfside, Texas by TN Fairey
The royal tern (Thalasseus maximus) is a seabird in the tern family Sternidae. The royal tern has a red-orange bill and a black cap during the breeding season, but in the winter the cap becomes patchy. The royal tern lives on the coast and is only found near salt water. They tend to feed near the shore, close to the beach or in backwater bays. The royal tern's conservation status is listed as least concern.

At first glance I thought these were seagulls ( I see them all the time here ) then when I clicked on the image to enlarge, I saw that they are Royal Terns! And then read your description....I love descriptions of what I am looking at! Thank you. Beautiful photo. I can feel the breeze and hear the terns. ( I think, LOL ) Fave
