The fly agaric is a large, white-spotted red mushroom, easily recognizable as the classic “toadstool” in popular culture. It is native throughout boreal and temperate areas of the Northern Hemisphere and has been accidentally introduced to many parts of the Southern Hemisphere. A truly cosmopolitan mushroom, it can associate with many different deciduous and coniferous trees. It is classified as poisonous.
